We – family of 4 – have stayed at LA PAIOLA in august 2014, at the suite PALMA.

Our stay was wonderful. The setting of the villa is fantastic and the views from suite Palma is tremendous – nature and lake everywhere. The pool as well has a great view and the area is nicely arranged.
The garden, the flowers, the apartments – everything is decorated with great taste and a lot of personal touch.
Alena is a wonderful host, most helpful as to touristic and gastronomic information and just lovely with our children. She even was so kind to propose to organize a cake for the birthday of our daughter.

We really enjoyed our talks and the fact that she personally makes sure that every guest is happy and the all apartments are neat and clean. Room service is perfect and the suite carries everything you would need for great holidays.

The region of Lago di Vico is perfect – remote enough to be far away from turbulent tourism in order to really enjoy a calm and relaxing time. And Rome is only one hour away as well as loads of other touristic attractions which are even nearer.

We definitely will return to this beautiful place!

Just one tiny point– the fitness part is not really great. Some minor investments might be good – some weights and a treadmill are certainly enough. And the view from there is stunning.

Salutary effects of Viterbo’s water

The waters, coming from the Cimini Mountains  and traveling through volcanic layers ,

are rich in minerals.

The water penetrates deep into the ground.

It flows through porous rock until it reaches impervious layers,

Where it change route. Some of the water stops its flow at the depth of 3000m. Here the water warms up. Finally it rises to the surface at the hot springs. The water flows out at a temperature of 87°C.They are used to prepare mud-baths of great therapeutical effect. Going to Rome along the Via Cassia , with a detour along the way to Cimina Ronciglione , meets the volcanic lake of Vico , in the homonymous Nature Reserve ( www.riservavico.it ) .
Interesting environment chosen by wild ducks, mallards & grebes .

The lake has an curious legend . Hercules stuck in the ground a huge club challenging the locals to remove it. No one could do it and when he did the mythological hero , a river that flowed from the earth filled the reservoir to form the Lake Vico. Between the towns of the area , Sutri , of Etruscan origin, stage of the Via Francigena ( the amphitheater carved into the rock and the beautiful cave church ) . Ronciglione and Caprarola , with the Palazzo Farnese , designed by Sangallo and Vignola.
